Description

Sweet Almond Oil (Prunus amygdalus dulcis) is a classic oil, an emollient with a long-standing reputation in cosmetics. Its texture is pleasant and absorbs somewhat slower. It is the default choice for body care, face and body creams, and children's skin formulas. Due to its high native concentration of oleic acid, linoleic acid, and phytosterols, this oil provides a rich, rich texture that is ideal for professional massage treatments, products targeting the delicate skin of pregnant women, or for restoring a depleted skin barrier.

It is a fine, pleasant oil that performs consistently as a core ingredient in personal care. It possesses recognized skin tolerance and cosmetic versatility. It is an excellent structural ingredient for rich emulsions, balms, and anhydrous products.

Characteristics

  • eco Culture: Certified Organic
  • water_do Appearance: Yellowish liquid, discrete scent, medium-to-light texture
  • verified_user Quality: Cosmetic grade, cold-pressed, unrefined

Ingredients: Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis Oil*

Main Properties

  • checkUniversal emollient: maintains the skin's hydrolipid balance, softens the skin, spreads comfortably, and penetrates the skin at a moderate pace, leaving a velvety feel.
  • checkSkin tolerance: reduces skin discomfort, making it one of the safest oils for sensitive, inflamed, or fragile skin, with excellent tolerability for the eye area as well.
  • checkSkin soothing: the bioactive substances help reduce the itching (pruritus) and redness specific to extremely dry or eczema-prone skin.
  • checkStructural elasticity: penetrates slowly into the stratum corneum, softening rigid tissues, and is recognized for its capacity to maintain skin elasticity during periods of rapid stretching (pregnancy, weight fluctuations).

Usage & Synergies

Face care

On the face, almond oil is suitable for dry, sensitive, or normal skin, including the eye area. It can be used pure or as an ingredient in serums and creams. It is not recommended for oily or actively acne-prone skin in high doses.

Practical recommendations

  • Cleansing oil: Apply a few drops, massage, and remove with a damp cloth.
  • Ingredient in creams: An emollient base for face creams and eye area care.
  • Ingredient in makeup products: Can be included in foundation and lipstick formulas for a pleasant richness.

Synergies in face care

As a soothing serum for sensitive skin, the synergy with Calendula Oil and Bisabolol completes the gentle effect. In a nourishing eye cream, the association with Rice Bran Oil and Camellia Oil provides a fine texture and delicate nourishment. For an anti-aging facial massage oil, it combines harmoniously with Cranberry Seed Oil or Sea Buckthorn Oil and Vitamin A.

Body care

At the body level, organic almond oil is the premium ingredient for massage oils. It is richer and more unctuous compared to refined almond oil.

Practical recommendations

  • Luxurious massage oil: Use pure or with added essential oils. Its slow absorption allows for a comfortably long massage.
  • Body balm: Incorporate into body balms or creams for an unctuous emollience.

Synergies in body care

As a premium massage oil, the synergy with Monoi de Tahiti Oil and Neroli Essential Oil creates a distinctive and nourishing formula. As an ingredient in oils or creams for sensitive skin, the association with Calendula Oil and Aloe Vera Oil completes the protective and soothing effect.

Hair care

On hair, almond oil is a suitable nourishing ingredient for dry hair. It can be used as a pre-shampoo treatment or as an ingredient in conditioners and masks.

Practical recommendations

  • Pre-shampoo treatment: Apply to the lengths, leave on for 20-30 minutes, then shampoo. It is generally combined with other active oils specific to hair care.
  • Ingredient in conditioners: Incorporate into hair conditioners for moisture and maintenance.

Synergies in hair care

As a base for a nourishing pre-shampoo treatment, the synergy with Ricin Oil and Burdock Oil or Amla Oil provides deep nutrition and an enhanced conditioning effect.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Is there a difference between sweet and bitter almonds?
Yes, a significant one. Sweet almond oil is the one used in cosmetics, safe and without limitations. Bitter almond oil contains amygdalin and is used for its aroma, but it requires strict purification to eliminate toxic hydrocyanic acid.

How does it differ from refined almond oil?
Unlike the refined variant, unrefined almond oil retains its golden-yellow color, its natural nutty scent, and its complete native concentration of phytosterols and vitamins. It is slightly richer and absorbs more slowly into the skin.

How does it differ from apricot kernel oil?
The profile is similar, as both are dominated by oleic acid. Apricot kernel oil absorbs somewhat faster. Almond oil is denser and more protective, while apricot kernel oil is more fluid, absorbs quickly, and is preferred especially for face care.

A precious oil. I have bought other brands before, with even higher prices, and they were not superior in quality. Well worth buying!

I got it for the rosemary oil concentrate blend. I've heard it's the best. It's a diluent oil though, so it's probably fine. I can't complain about anything

It is a moisturizing oil, easily absorbed, beneficial for both skin and hair. Thanks to its emollient properties, almond oil prevents dehydration of the skin, hair and scalp. Almond oil is particularly suitable for people with dry or sensitive skin.

It's my favorite oil! Whenever I need moisturizing (face, hands, lips) I apply it and it has an immediate effect. I also prefer it in the oily phase of creams. I like the non-greasy texture and find it ideal for my acne/sensitive skin.
