Description

Organic Evening Primrose Oil, obtained by cold pressing the seeds of Oenothera Biennis, is a precious oil certified COSMOS ORGANIC, renowned for its rich content of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA). This rare fatty acid (Omega-6) is essential for maintaining the elasticity and protective barrier of the skin, being an ingredient that our body produces with increasing difficulty as we age.

Known as "the woman's oil" due to its ability to harmonize skin affected by hormonal fluctuations, this vegetable oil is a powerful restructurant. It is the ideal solution for revitalizing mature, wrinkled, or withered skin, but also for soothing inflammatory conditions such as eczema or dermatitis, offering deep and lasting emollience.

Characteristics

  • eco Culture: Organic, certified (China/Europe)
  • water_do Appearance: Oily liquid, golden-yellow color, characteristic smell (slightly nutty/herbal)
  • verified_userCOSMOS ORGANIC certified by Ecocert Greenlife, cold pressed, virgin

Ingredients: Oenothera Biennis Oil
100% of the total ingredients are from organic farming. COSMOS ORGANIC certified product.

Main properties

  • checkRestructuring and Anti-aging: Stimulates the regeneration of collagen fibers, restoring firmness to sagging skin.
  • checkSoothing for atopic skin: Reduces inflammation, redness, and itching associated with eczema (due to GLA).
  • checkHormonal balancer (cutaneous): Helps manage acne breakouts caused by hormonal imbalances.
  • checkIntense moisturizer: Prevents water loss from tissues, being ideal for dry skin.
  • checkRevitalizing: Restores the glow of dull and tired skin.

editor_choice Recommendations for use and Synergies

Facial care

Evening Primrose Oil is recommended for mature, wrinkled skin, but also for sensitive skin or skin affected by hormonal acne. It is a rich oil that works best during the night.

Practical recommendations

  • Anti-wrinkle night serum: Massage face and neck with 3-4 drops before bedtime. Insist on fine lines around the eyes and mouth.
  • Treatment for reactive skin: If the skin is red and irritated by cold, apply the pure oil to restore the lipid barrier.
  • Nutritive mix: Add a drop to your regular night cream to enhance its regenerating power.

Synergies in facial care

For strong anti-aging effect, it combines with Borage Oil, Pomegranate Oil and Rosehip Oil. For hormonal balance at the skin level, associate with Geranium Essential Oil or Sage.

Hair care

It is useful for scalp health, especially if there are problems with dryness, flakes, or irritations. Damaged hair benefits from the fatty acid intake.

Practical recommendations

  • Scalp treatment: Massage the scalp before washing to eliminate dry dandruff and soothe irritations.
  • Ends reconditioning: Apply to very dry and split ends as a pre-shampoo treatment.

Synergies in hair care

For revitalization, it combines with Castor Oil and Shea Butter.

Body care

Ideal for areas with atopic dermatitis, very dry skin, or for breast massage (to maintain firmness and elasticity).

Practical recommendations

  • Oil for eczema: Apply locally on rough and irritated body areas (elbows, knees). Reduces the itching sensation.
  • Nail care: Strengthens brittle nails that exfoliate.

Synergies in body care

For atopic skin, the perfect synergy is with Black Currant Oil and Calendula Oil. For firmness, associate with Argan Oil.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between Evening Primrose and Borage?
Both are sources of GLA (Gamma-Linolenic Acid). Borage Oil has double the concentration of GLA (20%) compared to Evening Primrose (10%). However, Evening Primrose is sometimes better tolerated by sensitive skin and has a different general lipid profile, being preferred in hormonal imbalances.
Does it smell?
Yes, it has a specific, slightly oily, nutty or grassy smell, which can vary from one batch to another. It is a sign that the oil is unrefined.
Is it comedogenic?
It has a medium comedogenic rating (2-3). It can be used on acne-prone skin (due to linoleic acid), but we recommend testing or diluting with non-comedogenic oils (e.g., Hemp) to avoid clogging pores in prone individuals.
Can it be used during the day?
Being rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids, it oxidizes quickly in the sun. We recommend using it in the evening.

Technical data, quality

The oil is obtained by mechanical cold pressing from organic seeds, keeping all essential fatty acids intact.

The main active compounds are:

  • Linoleic Acid (Omega-6): Approx. 65-75%. Maintains hydration and the skin barrier.
  • Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA - Omega-6): Approx. 9-10%. The "star" compound, anti-inflammatory and regenerative.
  • Oleic Acid (Omega-9): Approx. 5-10%.
  • Phytosterols and Vitamin E: Natural antioxidants.

Warnings, Safety data

General precautions

  • Cosmetic product for external use. Do not ingest.
  • Perform a skin patch test before use.

Safety in use

It is a safe, non-irritating oil. It can be used by people with sensitive skin.

Storage, keeping

  • Attention: It is very sensitive to oxidation (rancidity) due to the high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids.
  • Store in a cool place, completely protected from light.

Why we love it

Organic Evening Primrose Oil is the skin's "clock". We love it because it knows how to turn back time for mature skin and bring peace to skin agitated by hormones. It is a complex oil, which works in depth to restore the resistance structure of the epidermis, being our trusted ally in nocturnal care rituals.

Reviews have often helped me in my choice of products and with this oil it was the same. Yes, it is a highly regarded oil and rightly so. It is an oil of and light, concentrated. With multiple benefits. I have included it in an oil serum along with other oils but even though the bottle is only 50 ml, I have enough to make face and eye creams. I will include it in mine to test its benefits. Back with my impressions!

Evening Luminita is among the top elixirs for protection against skin aging. I use this oil whenever I feel the need to moisturize my complexion, but also for the skin around my eyes. I feel more relaxed knowing that I am benefiting from the prevention of premature skin aging. I'm glad that in my search for solutions to various skin problems, I have turned my eyes in the right direction: nature's magic.

I was delighted to use this oil to prepare the Argan & Rose with Geranium Beauty Elixir, proposed by Elemental (because I replaced the Neroli fragrance); I added a dash of pearly pigment, and now it enchants every evening, before bedtime, with its magical and velvety properties

After the first 2 consecutive evenings that I applied it as such, I was pleasantly surprised to notice that the wrinkles on my forehead almost disappeared (dry complexion). Much more effective than many very expensive creams. I highly recommend!
