Neem oil Organic
Description
Organic Neem Oil (Melia azadirachta) is not a comfort or daily routine oil; it is a concentrated active ingredient rich in substances with antibacterial, antifungal, antiparasitic, and insect repellent effects, possessing a strong reputation in Ayurvedic practices. It is a powerful oil that can be effectively utilized in personal care for severe acne, skin mycoses, eczema, fungal dandruff, or in antiparasitic treatments for the scalp.
The compounds responsible for these properties, azadirachtin, nimbin, and salannin, are triterpenoid lipids present in the cold-pressed, unrefined oil. This is why the scent is so intense and specific, serving as a sign of the high concentration of active principles.
Beyond personal care, this oil is famous as a natural pesticide and insecticide in organic farming.

Usage & Synergies
Face care
On the face, Neem oil is intended exclusively for localized treatments for acne, boils, or superficial bacterial or fungal skin infections, not as a daily face oil. The intense odor makes it practically impossible to use pure over large areas.
Practical recommendations
- Spot treatment on blemishes: Apply with a cotton swab strictly to the affected area. Do not use over large areas.
- Ingredient in purifying serums: Incorporate at 5-10% into formulas for acne-prone skin, alongside lighter oils to dilute the odor.
- Addition to clay masks: Add a few drops to a portion of green or Ghassoul clay mask for an enhanced purifying effect.
Synergies in face care
For severe or bacterial acne, the synergy with Citronella Essential Oil, Niaouli Essential Oil as concentrated actives, diluted in Organic Jojoba Oil, offers a potent purifying blend with a somewhat more acceptable scent.
Body care
Due to its extremely strong odor and concentrated action, neem oil is generally not applied pure over large surfaces. It is recommended to use it as a localized treatment on pimples or areas with eczema, or diluted at a ratio of 5% - 20% in another vegetable oil and masked with strong essential oils (peppermint, eucalyptus). At the body level, neem is relevant in treatments for mycoses, eczema, mild psoriasis, and as an insect repellent, used diluted or within cosmetic formulas.
Practical recommendations
- Localized treatment for mycoses or eczema: Dilute 10-20% in almond or coconut oil. Apply to the affected area twice a day.
- Ingredient in purifying ointments: Incorporate at 5-15% into ointments or balms for localized treatments.
Synergies in body care
As a treatment for body mycoses, the association with Sage Essential Oil, Eucalyptus Lemon Essential Oil and Laurel berry Oil as a base supports the antifungal effect.
Hair care
On the scalp, neem is a specific treatment for fungal dandruff, seborrheic dermatitis, lice, and mites. Do not apply pure to a sensitive scalp; dilution is mandatory.
Practical recommendations
- Anti-dandruff treatment: Add 5-10% neem to a scalp treatment oil. Leave on for 20-30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
- Anti-lice treatment: Incorporate 5-10% into an emulsified hair mask. Apply over the entire scalp and lengths, cover with plastic wrap for 30 minutes, then wash thoroughly with shampoo.
Synergies in hair care
As a treatment against fungal dandruff, the synergy with Ravensara Essential Oil and Karanja Oil as a dilution base offers a combined antifungal and fortifying spectrum.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why does it smell so intense?
The intense and specific odor compared to sulfur or frozen onions, is caused by the organosulfur compounds and lipoid triterpenoids present in the unrefined oil. The smell is a sign of biological activity. An odorless neem oil has been refined and has lost the core components of its composition.
Why did it solidify?
Neem Oil is rich in stearic and palmitic acids, which cause it to solidify at temperatures below 25°C. Keep the bottle in a warmer environment before use to liquefy it.
