Preservative BS – Water-Soluble, Broad Spectrum
Preservative BS is a liquid preservative system composed of an optimized blend of organic acid salts: sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. It acts as a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent, approved by certification bodies for natural cosmetics. Its primary role is to inhibit the proliferation of bacteria, yeasts, and molds in formulations containing a significant water phase. Its activity depends on the pH of the formula, performing exclusively in environments with controlled acidity.

Formulation Guide
- Procedure: BS Preservative should be added to the water phase under stirring as early as possible in the formulation process. It is resistant to temperatures up to 80°C.
- pH Adjustment: To ensure maximum preservation efficacy, the pH of the final product must be adjusted to an optimal value between 4.5 and 5.5.
- Recommended Usage Dosage: A standard percentage of 1% is widely used in most products, ensuring robust microbiological protection.

Safety Profile: Safe raw material approved for use in natural and organic cosmetics. Well tolerated by the skin within the recommended dosage and pH limits.

Yes, I recommend this preservative, the price is very good. So far I have not noticed any problems with products preserved with it.
I purchased it recently and have already used it in a shower gel. I like the details in the product description. Being at a very affordable price, I am thinking of using it instead of Cosgard in the future
I've combined this preservative with Cosgard, I see so far the creams I've used it in are behaving well. I have been following it in action for about 4 months, it seems OK.
A preservative that sounds very promising in terms of safety of use as long as it's based on identical-natural food-grade ingredients and is approved worldwide without restrictions and for leave-on products. My only regret is that for the time being I won't be able to use it for products for an atopic condition that no longer allows a pH lower than 6.
For now I made a eau picelara with it and I'm waiting for possible reactions on the skin, I hope there won't be any.As it is described it seems ok, maybe much better than Cosgard
