Minimalist Moisturising Face Cream
Formula: 74104 Difficulty level: advanced Shelf life: min 3 months pH optimal: 5.0 - 5.5

Phase Ingredients Dosage % Total 50 gr
A Pure / distilled water 72,7 36,35 gr
A Glycerin 5 2,5 gr
A Xanthan gum 0,3 0,15 gr
B Apricot oil 15 7,5 gr
B Emulsifier Vegemuls 4 2 gr
B Cetearyl alcohol 2 1 gr
C Preservative BS 1 0,5 gr

1. Prepare phase A: premix xanthan gum with glycerin, add to water and mix until a gel is formed.

2. Heat phases A and B separately on a water bath at 75°C in heat-resistant glasses. When both phases have reached the right temperature, remove from the heat source.

3. Add phase B to phase A with stirring, continue stirring until homogeneous.

4. Place the beaker in a bowl of cold water and stir until a homogeneous emulsion is formed.

5. Cool below 40°C, add the ingredient from phase C and mix well until smooth.

6. Measure pH and adjust with lactic acid if necessary.

7. Transfer the mixture to the dedicated container. The consistency will be final the next day.

You can change the apricot oil with another oil or butter, depending on your preference. In phase C you can use a few drops of essential oil or natural fragrant oil if you wish.

Are you using multiple products, powerful serums, toners, boosters in your routine? Here's a minimalist moisturizer that you can apply without fuss and doesn't interfere with the other products you apply to your face every day.

Hello Aida, Instead of cetearyl alcohol we recommend stabila co-emulsifier, or instead of apricot oil, other oils with a light texture, such as olive squalane, caprilis oil, camellia or white lily. Good luck!

Hello Mari. If the cream is to be used as a complexion cream, we recommend adding no more than up to 2% urea to the formula, and the oil phase can consist of shea butter and lanolin. Good luck!

Good morning, the cream was cut after I mixed the two phases and started to mix them, but after 24 h it recovered its normal appearance :). Thanks for the clarification. I would have a couple more questions though. Is the emulsifier in a cream chosen according to the oils used? Does a higher percentage of emulsifier (without exceeding its max. limit) lead to a denser cream? Maybe a guide on choosing ingredients would be helpful :). Thanks for the recipes and answers, you have helped me to evolve from blends of oils enriched with u.e. and vit.A/E to emulsified creams. Good days!

Hello Mari, If the cream has cut off in the emulsification phase, this cannot be remedied. The most common causes are that the two phases have not reached the right temperature and/or are not at the same temperature. We recommend using a thermometer to accurately measure the temperature of the two phases. Good luck!

Good evening I made the cream, but when I mixed the phases (I poured the watery phase into the oily one) the cream cut ?. Could you please tell me what could be the cause? Can it be fixed somehow (like mayonnaise?)? Thanks in advance.

Hello Ana-Maria, We recommend including sea buckthorn oil in the oil phase, 5%, adjusting the percentage of apricot oil accordingly. You can add to the cream 1-3 drops of rose absolute in the C phase. Good luck!

Hello Mrs. Verdeș, Hello Geta, Since Softdermo Eco Preservative is not equivalent to BS Preservative substitution in the same amount without reformulation, recipe adjustment is not possible. Softdermoc Eco Preservative: - Dosage: 2.5-4% (compared to Cons BS 1% in the recipe) - in emulsions, it is recommended to associate with 0.3% Glyceryl Caprylate to improve its performance - for emulsions, it is recommended to add in the aqueous phase (compared to Cons BS, which is added in the C phase, after cooling the cream) - as Softdermo Eco has a pH of 7.0 -8.5, we recommend measuring the pH of the finished product and adjusting to 5.0 - 5.5 if needed Have a sunny day we wish you!

Hello Daisy, You can enrich the formula with slim-activ 5%, for redefining facial areas prone to sagging, such as double chin. Decrease the amount added from the water percentage. Good luck!
