Description

Cistus (Cistus ladanifer) is the essential oil of choice for mature, couperose, or scarred skin; it is astringent, regenerating, and toning, with a balsamic, resinous, slightly sweet-amber aroma. Also known as rockrose, it is one of the essences of the Mediterranean used in personal care. Its primary applications are anti-wrinkle treatments for mature skin, treatments for couperose and rosacea, formulas for scars and stretch marks, and as a valuable base note in natural chypre and amber perfumery.

It possesses recognized virtues in cosmetics, being traditionally used as a healing and astringent agent with skin-regenerating and firmness-enhancing actions. A particularly good choice for the care of aging skin, oily or acne-prone skin, and damaged skin.

An aromatic detail worth mentioning: the olfactory profile of Cistus evolves on the skin. Upon opening the bottle, it may seem intense, even heavy. On the skin it transforms, the resin notes fade, and a pleasant amber base remains.

air Olfactory profile: Complex, balsamic, resinous, amber, slightly sweet, and spicy. It evolves beautifully on the skin, less intense than upon opening the bottle, with a persistent amber drydown.

Questions and Answers (FAQ)

Q: What does it mean that it has immunomodulating properties?
A: Unlike an immunostimulant (which increases immune activity), an immunomodulator regulates it according to the body's needs, useful both during periods of vulnerability and in autoimmune conditions, where excessive stimulation would be counterproductive. Cistus is mentioned in French clinical aromatherapy in this capacity. It is used as a complementary ingredient, not as a medical treatment.

Q: What is the difference compared to Labdanum Absolute, obtained from the same plant?
A: The same plant, but different extraction methods and profiles. The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the branches and leaves, a cosmetic and aromatherapeutic active ingredient. Labdanum is an absolute obtained from the resin, used almost exclusively for perfumery, with a denser amber note. Cistus has documented skin applications; Labdanum is primarily a perfumery ingredient.

An interesting scent with a lovely drydown. It's strong at first, then settles amber-vanillic. I recommend.

Sadly, the quality of this one was not the same i'm accustomed to - instead of rich overwhelming sweet aroma i got what felt like very diluted variety of what it should have been. Defenitely i won't use it in diffuser as I planned to, but still it has it's uses for topical applying.

I used it instead of 2 other essential oils, along with the lavender one, to perfume and enhance the bust firming oil. The results did not take long to appear!

Cistus ladanifer essential oil delivers what it promises. I am extremely pleased that I have finally found the right way to take care of my complexion and have completely given up the expensive and ineffective cosmetics I used to use. All the products are very good and the recipes are really useful for a correct care. Congratulations!
