Anti-dandruff lotion with nettle and salicylic acid
Formula: 39254 Difficulty level: medium Shelf life: min 3 months pH optimal: 5.5-6.0

Phase Ingredients Dosage % Total 100 gr
A Peppermint water 42,2 42,2 gr
A Nettle & mimosa infusion 50 50 gr
A Allantoin 0,2 0,2 gr
A Natural salicylic acid BHA 5 5 gr
B Solubilizer 1,2 1,2 gr
B Oregano essential oil 0,2 0,2 gr
B Palmarosa essential oil 0,2 0,2 gr
C Cosgard 1 1 gr

1. Prepare an infusion of 90 gr pure water + 7 gr nettle powder + 3 gr mimosa powder: add boiling water over the powders and leave for 15 minutes with the pot covered, then filter. Filtration takes 12-15 minutes.

2. Allow the resulting filtrate to cool to room temperature. The quantities given will result in about 50 g of filtered infusion; if a smaller quantity has resulted, top up with pure water.

3. In a glass add the solubiliser and the essential oils from phase B, homogenise.

4. In another beaker add the ingredients of phase A one at a time and mix well.

5. Add the phase A solution to phase B, stirring in between. Add phase C and homogenise. Transfer the resulting lotion to the dedicated container.

A beneficial lotion for quickly greasy hair and irritated, itchy, dandruff-affected scalp. Spray sparingly at the root after washing hair, on clean, dry or slightly damp scalp, and massage gently. Does not require rinsing. Shake the bottle before use!

Hello Hina, We recommend adding 5% glycerin while reducing the percentage of water used. Have an easy day!

Hello! Sure yes, the formula can be enriched with horsetail extract, we suggest 5-7% by subtracting the peppermint water appropriately. Good luck!

With this recipe we cannot recommend another preservative. Without preservative, the lotion can only be used for a few days and requires refrigerated storage.

I also come back to this recipe with the same question related to cosgard: if I can replace it with another preservative, if I remove it how long can I use the lotion? Thanks.

BHA is an important ingredient in both recipes, we cannot recommend a product with similar properties.

Ennèl and the BHA can be omitted from the scalp anti-irritation recipe, as there is none. What can be used instead? If possible? Thank you very much.

Yes, we know that BHA treatment is not photosensitizing. Have a nice day!

Pharmacy salicylic acid is a synthetic ingredient and should be handled differently, it is not recommended for this recipe.

Is it true that you can't sunbathe with glycolic acid (AHA) peels because they cause sunburn, but BHA treatments are not photosensitising, so sunburn is not a problem? Thank you very much.

I would like to ask if it is possible to use salicylic acid from the pharmacy instead of salicylic acid, as I forgot to add it to my shopping cart from my previous order:(

Cristina, the proposed changes are fine, except for replacing the preservative - fragard is not suitable for aqueous formulas, only for emulsions. You may still consider using Marine-Z active (even instead of solubilizer+essential oils).

I would like to adapt the recipe for acne prone skin to puberty. I was thinking to use lavender water and immortelle, instead of oregano another specific oil (I don't know which one yet), to decrease the salicylic acid to 2.5%, possibly keep allantoin and use fragard (as I don't have another preservative and I would prefer it anyway). Basically I want a purifying water that the child can apply at least in the evening before bedtime. Would this modified formula be ok?

Hello, Emi. The solubilizer can be used for essential oils, fragrance oils and oily or fat soluble ingredients.

Hello Angela! Yes, the solubilizer can also be used for incorporating fluid fatty ingredients into aqueous solutions.
