Description

A highly distinct essential oil is that of Oregano (Origanum vulgare). Concentrated in carvacrol, a phenol with an outstanding spectrum of activity documented in specialized literature, Oregano essential oil is one of the most studied and potent essences in aromatherapy and natural care. It is not a luxury oil and does not aspire to be: it is an intervention oil, designed with a precise purpose to provide help in concrete situations.

It is precisely this power that commands respect and precision in use. Carvacrol, responsible for a large portion of the oil's composition, belongs to the category of "hot oils" - alongside cloves, cinnamon, or thyme - meaning oils that produce an intense sensation of heat upon skin contact and can cause irritation if applied undiluted or in too high concentrations. Correctly diluted and used with discernment, it acts as an ingredient of great efficacy in formulas for problematic skin, the scalp, nails, and natural hygiene. Periods of use are recommended to be short, followed by breaks.

air Olfactory profile: Powerful, sharp-spicy, herbaceous-phenolic, with warm notes and an intensity that immediately dominates any blend. Unmistakable, the aroma of fresh oregano amplified to the maximum.

For correct dosages, consult the IFRA certificate attached to the product on the website.

face Face Care

  • Spot-treatment for inflamed imperfections: One drop of Oregano diluted in a few drops of Tamanu Oil. Apply punctually with a cotton swab exclusively to the targeted zone, not to the entire surface of the face. Tamanu adds its own profile as a traditional active ingredient for the appearance of skin with imperfections.
  • Intense purifying mask: One drop of Oregano and a few of Organic Tea Tree, mixed with a tablespoon of Green Clay and enough Hamamelis Floral Water. Leave on for 5–6 minutes, no longer. Do not use more frequently than twice a week.

  • Problematic scalp treatment: A few drops of Oregano, a few of Organic Rosemary, and a few of Laurel Oil, diluted in Organic Black Cumin Oil topped up with Ricin Oil. Massage into the scalp, leave on for 30-45 minutes under a warm towel, then wash with shampoo. Maximum twice a week.
  • Addition to shampoo: One drop of Oregano added directly into the shampoo dose. Provides a purifying effect for a seborrheic scalp.

  • Air purifier: 1-2 drops of Oregano with a few drops of Organic Eucalyptus Globulus in the diffuser, maximum 10 minutes, in well-ventilated spaces due to its aromatic intensity.

Questions and Answers (FAQ)

Q: Why is it recommended to use it for short periods with breaks?
A: Natural does not automatically mean mild or without limits. The carvacrol in oregano is a powerful phenol, and prolonged use can alter the appearance of the skin's natural microbial flora, yielding the opposite effect of what is desired. The principle in aromatherapy with phenolic oils is rotation and rest: 5-7 days of use, followed by a 2-3 day break. This approach maintains efficiency and prevents the accumulation of skin sensitivity.

Q: What is the most suitable vegetable carrier oil for Oregano in topical applications?
A: The choice of carrier matters just as much as the dilution. Organic Neem Oil is the first-line carrier for formulas destined for the care of nails and skin affected by mycosis - it possesses a solid traditional reputation of its own and good penetration into skin tissues. Tamanu Oil is excellent for skin applications due to its traditional active profile. Karanja Oil is ideal for foot baths and leave-on formulas, with the advantage of a much more pleasant scent than Neem.

Q: Can I use Oregano in a diffuser as well, not just topically?
A: Yes, but with moderation. Diffused, it has a traditional reputation as an environmental purifier, but its intense aroma can be overwhelming and may irritate nasal mucous membranes upon prolonged exposure. The practical rule: maximum 10 minutes of diffusion in well-ventilated spaces, using 1-2 drops. Diffusing in the presence of pets or young children is not recommended.

It appears in the anti dandruff hair lotion recipe, which is why I purchased it. But I think I would have bought this essential oil anyway because I also use it often in my aromatherapy machine, especially during times that are favorable for viruses and bacteria, and even more so when we have a cold, flu, respiratory or immunity problems.

Is a great oil that should not be missing in any home. I included it in my night cream out of a desire to get rid of a nasty acne that had appeared out of nowhere and which I suspected was infectious in nature and the effects were unexpected. By morning my complexion was almost healed. It must be used in moderation, however, it is very strong and applied in too large an amount leads to an unbearable sensation of stinging and reddening of the skin. I recommend.
