Description

Organic Black Henna – 100% Natural Hair Dye, Shades from Dark Brown to Ebony Black

Organic Black Henna is a pure plant powder derived from the dried and finely ground leaves of the Indigofera Tinctoria plant, sourced from certified organic farming. This powder colors the hair naturally in dark shades ranging from deep brown to intense black, providing a gentle alternative to synthetic oxidation dyes. The natural pigment adheres to the keratin on the surface of the hair shaft, while conferring volume, density, silky shine, and protection against environmental factors without negatively affecting its structure.

Ingredients (INCI): Indigofera Tinctoria Leaf Powder.
100% of the total ingredients are from organic farming. COSMOS ORGANIC certified by Ecocert Greenlife according to COSMOS Standard

Technical and Quality Characteristics

  • Composition: 100% pure, finely sifted plant powder from Indigofera Tinctoria leaves.
  • Quality: Free from added metallic salts, PPD, ammonia, peroxide, synthetic dyes, or preservatives.
  • Physical Appearance: Fine greenish powder with a specific herbal odor.
  • Solubility: Insoluble; disperses in warm water to form a smooth paste.

Results Based on Base Hair Color

  • Dark brown or black hair: Delivers an intense, deep black color with cool highlights and shine.
  • Medium brown hair: Tones to a very dark brown approaching black.
  • Blonde, light brown, white, or gray hair: Caution! Applied directly to light or white hair, it may produce undesirable blue-greenish reflections. To achieve dark brown or black shades on light/white hair, a two-step process is mandatory: Step 1 with Red Henna to create an orange-copper base, followed immediately by Step 2 with Black Henna.

Properties and Benefits

  • Plant-Based Dyeing in Dark Tones: Provides cool highlights and deep shades from dark brown to intense black without bleaching or weakening the hair.
  • Thickening and Volume: Coats each hair strand in a protective layer, restoring body and density to fine hair.
  • Smoothing and Intense Shine: Seals the hair cuticle, leaving it silky, manageable, and easier to comb.
  • Scalp Balancing: Purifies the scalp and helps maintain its natural balance.

Preparation and Application Guide

  • Indicative Dosage: Short hair / Roots: approx. 30 g - 50 g powder; Medium hair (shoulder-length): approx. 100 g powder; Long hair: 150 g - 200 g powder.
  • Paste Preparation: In a non-metallic bowl (glass, ceramic, or plastic), mix the powder with warm water at approximately 50°C (do not use boiling water, as it destroys the pigment). Obtain a smooth paste with the consistency of thick sour cream. Do not add acidic ingredients (lemon juice, vinegar), as an acidic environment inhibits pigment release.
  • Application: Apply immediately after preparation without steep time.
  • Processing Time: Apply to clean (washed with shampoo only) and dry or slightly damp hair. Cover head with a plastic shower cap or plastic wrap and a warm towel. Leave on for 1 to 4 hours.
  • Rinsing: Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water only. Do not use shampoo for the first 24-48 hours, during which the color sets and intensifies through air oxidation.

Recommended Synergies and Blends

  • Two-Step Method (for White / Light Hair): Apply Red Henna first (1-2 hours), rinse, then apply Black Henna (1-2 hours) to achieve an even and durable black.
  • One-Step Blend (for Brunette / Dark Brown Shades): Combine Black Henna with Red Henna and Amla powder in equal proportions.
  • For Color Preservation During Washing: Subsequent hair washing using Jujube / Shikakai instead of classic shampoo is recommended.

Precautions and Recommendations

Strand Test: Performing a prior test on a hidden strand of hair is recommended to evaluate the final result, especially on light, bleached, or permed hair.
Precautions: For external cosmetic use only. Wear protective gloves during application, as it stains skin and nails. Avoid contact with eyes. Do not inhale powder. Keep out of reach of children.
Storage: Store in a tightly closed container in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

I used it to make an oily macerate to color a soap. It had great coloring power and the powder is finely milled. I will definitely be ordering more 🤗

I've been ordering indigo powder, red henna and the rest of the dedicated powders for hair coloring and maintenance for a few years now. I am always pleased with the quality and price and from several experiments I have found that a tawny black came out on my hair only after initially coloring with reddish henna and the next day just putting indigo powder. Now preferring a lighter shade, a coppery brown, I mix 1 part reddish henna and 1/2 indigo, plus the rest of the maintenance powders (amla, roiba, hibiscus, shikakai, etc) in smaller amounts, about a tablespoon of each, put hot water, let the mixture rest for at least 30 min and then spread it on my hair, cover with cling film and towel and sleep like this. In the morning I rinse well with water and 2 days I do not wash my hair with anything. Of note would be that between the tawny black and brown I had a break where I bleached my hair for blonde balayage and my hair had greenish tints at the tips where there was still henna pigment in the hair, which was solved at the hairdresser, but as an idea, remember not to juggle between henna and dyeing with chemicals as it might not be what you expect. Also, I don't know if anyone has ever managed to get a tawny black on their hair that turned chocolate, in case they quickly changed their mind about the color, this I didn't manage to test, so think carefully beforehand what shade you want, it's easier to go from reddish to black than the other way around.

Having brown hair, I alternately use black henna in the cold season and blonde henna in summer. It's the optimal combination for me. Depending on the hair type, the hair powders just tint the color with a darker or lighter tone or strengthen the natural color. Over satin, the black henna adds a darker tone and doesn't destroy the hair at all.

I ordered this product , along with the reddish henna, for a client (me being a hairdresser). I didn't think it would be so easy to work with these products! If you follow the directions it is impossible for anything to go wrong. It goes on lightly to the hair and after washing, the hair stayed shiny and easy to style.

I have long hair, and have never colored it with anything but henna. Although I have a lot of gray hair, I constantly apply henna to my hair and it has gotten rid of dandruff, gotten rid of oily hair, and stopped hair loss. I have recommended it to other coworkers who after several applications have been pleased with the results. Thank you!

In December it will be 6 years since I've dyed my hair with only henne. I have 80% white hair, which is harder to dye, even some chemicals don't have 100% coverage of white strands. I'm very happy with the result, I haven't complained about hair loss for a long time. If you are waiting for the results of chemical dyes, stick to chemicals. Henna has only satisfactory results on first use and discolors a little with each wash. But with perseverance, the results show. For better results I do two different dyes: first with red henna, 20-30 minutes application (not 3 hours, this depends on the skill of each person, it has nothing to do with the seller) and leave it 3-4 hours covered with foil, to stay moist and warm. You can add lemon juice in the paste, because it acts better in acidic environment. Then I apply indigo henna (possibly the next day if I don't have time) and leave it for 2 hours. The results are better than mixing the two, because indigo henna needs an alkaline environment to get a better hold on the hair and doesn't work as well in the mixture. The time wasted is worth the effort, only the application and rinsing is all consuming, the rest you just sit with the bag on your head :)

I do not recommend, I spent 3 hours to put it on my hair, then I spent 2 hours with it on my hair, and when to wash. Surprise. No change initially it was a peach and I wanted to make it black, something relatively easy for a dye. But absolutely no change. Don't make the same mistake as me. Waste of time and money

I have been pleasantly impressed with this henna powder compared to other similar product used in the past. I have a few white strands, my hair had previously been dyed black with classic commercial dye. For my long to bust length hair I used a bag of 100gr Black Henna + 100gr Red Henna. I prepared the paste according to the instructions and the resulting mixture I spread evenly on my hair and scalp, rinsing after the 2nd day. The white strands turned brassy, the rest of the hair got brassy highlights and a healthy shine, with a natural transition between the roots and the previously dyed hair. 9/10 I will review!
