Description

Pink Pepper (Schinus molle) is not pepper in the botanical sense of the word; it belongs to the Anacardiaceae family (related to pistachio and cashew), not to the black pepper family. The Incas called it "mulli" and considered it a panacea: the leaves and fruits were included in treatments for joints, wounds, dental, and kidney problems. Today, its primary applications are for massage and anti-cellulite treatments due to its rubefacient, circulatory, and anti-inflammatory properties, for joint and muscular comfort, but especially in niche perfumery where it brings a distinct spicy-floral note. Its spicy-sweetish aroma, with notes of red fruits and juniper, is gentler and brighter compared to black pepper.

Two practical details to remember: it is sensitive to oxidation and must be stored in a cool place - oxidized monoterpenes become irritating. Individuals with allergies to plants in the Anacardiaceae family (cashew, pistachio, mango) must perform a rigorous patch test or avoid the product entirely.

air Olfactory profile: Fresh, spicy-sweetish, woody, with notes of red fruits and juniper and a dry resinous undertone. Gentler and more floral than Black Pepper, effervescent and diffusive.

Questions and Answers (FAQ)

Q: What is the difference compared to the Black Pepper in the Ellemental range?
A: They are completely different species with no botanical relation. Black Pepper (Piper nigrum, Piperaceae family) has a drier, sharper aroma, with a more powerful rubefacient effect and a more stimulating-energizing profile. Pink Pepper (Schinus molle, Anacardiaceae family) possesses a sweeter, more floral aroma with red fruit notes, it is more nuanced, more accessible olfactorily, with a more balanced profile and a gentler effect on the skin. They complement each other perfectly in sports massage blends or spicy perfumery.

Q: Can it be consumed as a spice?
A: We do not recommend the ingestion of essential oils. Pink pepper is a culinary spice, but the essential oil is extremely concentrated. To flavor culinary dishes, please use ground pink peppercorns instead.

I've been waiting for it for a while and I really like it, it's not as peppery as black pepper but has a floral profile and goes great with vetiver and citrus.

Very pleasant pepper scent, spicy, yet floral, colorful, different from black pepper, it enhances the creams/moisturizers for peripheral circulation, warms and stimulates blood circulation. Provides a distinctive note in perfumes or creams.
