Description

Chili CO2 Extract

Chili CO2 Extract – sensory warming for toning and massage formulations

Chili CO2 Extract is a valuable ingredient prized for its distinctive sensory profile: upon skin contact, capsaicin produces a characteristic sensation of warming and mild tingling, an immediate physical effect widely utilized in topical "warming" preparations.

A highly concentrated extract featuring thermogenic and blood circulation-stimulating properties, it is traditionally used in topical formulations for relieving fibromyalgia, rheumatic discomfort, and muscle or joint stiffness, as well as in anti-cellulite and anti-hair loss products.

It is obtained from the dried fruits of Capsicum frutescens (chili pepper) via supercritical carbon dioxide extraction, a physical process free of residual solvents, inorganic salts, or heavy metals. Yielding 1 kg of extract from 4-8 kg of dried fruits, it is standardized to a content of 4.8-5.2% total capsaicinoids alongside natural carotenoids such as beta-carotene, capsanthin, and capsorubin.

Ingredients (INCI): Capsicum Frutescens Fruit Extract.

Technical Characteristics

  • Raw Material: Chili pepper fruits (Capsicum frutescens) with seeds, dried.
  • Extraction Method: Supercritical CO2 extraction (free of residual solvents).
  • Organoleptic Description: Reddish oil with a pungent, characteristic odor.
  • Composition: 100% chili CO2 extract.
  • Active Content: 4.8 - 5.2% total capsaicinoids (nordihydrocapsaicin, capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin) + carotenoids (beta-carotene, capsanthin, capsorubin).
  • Certifications: Approved according to the COSMOS standard by the supplier.
  • Solubility: Lipophilic / Oil-soluble.

Properties and Benefits

  • Warming Sensation, Thermogenic: Capsaicinoids produce a characteristic feeling of warmth and mild tingling upon contact with the skin, an immediate effect intentionally utilized in topical warming formulations.
  • Carotenoid Supply: Naturally contains carotenoids (beta-carotene, capsanthin, capsorubin), compounds possessing antioxidant properties.
  • Natural Color: The red hue of the extract can impart a specific natural color to the final formulation.

Applications

  • Commonly used for preparing anti-cellulite and sculpting formulations, anti-hair loss products, sports care, products for joint and muscle care, and specialized massage blends.
  • Warming massage oils and creams for the body, applied to areas such as shoulders, back, limbs, or overworked muscles.
  • Toning foot and leg formulas featuring a thermogenic effect.
  • Lip balms with a temporary sensory plumping effect, an immediate feeling of fullness produced by local vasodilatation, representing a temporary sensory effect rather than a structural alteration of the lips.

Formulation Guide

  • Working Procedure: Add to the oil phase of the formulation. Withstands heating.
  • Indicative Dosage: 0.05% - 1%. As an ingredient with a high content of sensitizing substances causing intense physiological action on the skin, we recommend careful patch testing on a small area before establishing a suitable dosage for topical products.
  • Compatibility: Being an oil, it incorporates well into the oil phase of emulsions or anhydrous formulas. Stable and compatible across most cutaneous applications.

Usage Safety and Storage

Profile: Concentrated ingredient with a real, intense warming/irritating effect on the skin. Requires careful handling and cautious dosing during formulation.
Precautions: Keep out of reach of children. Do not ingest. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes—in case of accidental contact, capsaicin can cause intense discomfort. Performing a patch test on a small skin area prior to use is mandatory for this ingredient, not merely recommended. Unsuitable for formulations intended for sensitive body areas.
Storage: Store in a closed container in a cool, dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.

Mr. Sergiu, I understand your upset but before writing a negative review you should contact the company to clarify. Different oils have different densities. Just because the bottle is half empty doesn't mean the quantity differs, it means it is denser and therefore takes up less volume. There are some calculations that can show you these results, I invite you to study. Good day!

It's miraculous! I have used it in combination with arnica extract, mixed in a cream of some sort, for severe spinal pain (from a herniated disk) and it worked like nothing else. Depending on how much extract you put in and tolerate, it can keep the skin feeling warm for many hours or it can burn the skin downright. But the anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect is clearly there.

At last! I have been waiting a long time for such an extract, and other CO2 extracts would be useful!
