Charcoal & Kaolin Face Mask
Formula: 41308 Difficulty level: beginner Shelf lifemin 3 months pH optimal: -

Phase Ingredients Total 50 gr
A Activated charcoal 4 gr
A Kaolin clay 15 gr
A Emulsifier Alpha 30 gr
A Lemon FCF essential oil 17 drop

In a bowl or glass mix the clay and charcoal. Add the emulsifier and mix slowly, thoroughly. Finally add the essential oil and mix well. Transfer the resulting composition to the dedicated container.

The result is a face mask with purifying properties that deeply cleanses the skin and frees it from residues and accumulated sebum. Apply with a brush or spatula, leave on for about 15 minutes, then rinse off with lukewarm water

When rinsed off, the mask emulsifies once it comes into contact with water, and the charcoal - known to leave marks on the skin as well as the washbasin - washes off very easily thanks to the emulsifier. In addition, also thanks to the emulsifier used, the mask does not dry out or tighten the face, and after rinsing the skin will not be very dry, as it usually remains after a regular mask.

Hello Aurelia, If the recipe is prepared according to the good practice guidelines under optimal conditions, the mask will be valid for at least 3 months, as indicated in the header of the table of ingredients.

Hello! Alpha Emulsifier is non-irritant nor is it irritating when applied as such on the skin. The dosage is generally recommended for the preparation of creams, lotions, emulsions, but you can use more depending on the type of formula. The mask rinses off the skin anyway, don't worry.

In this mask, the Alpha emulsifier appears to be in a significantly higher dosage than recommended in the product insert. Won't it be irritating in this way?

Hi, I have used the orange peel granules, the particles swelled up after a while and I don't like the texture very much. Would castor bean pearls behave differently? Thanks so much!

Hello. You can include exfoliating particles such as ground kernels, castor pearls, orange peel granules, etc. Instead of some lemon essential oil you can incorporate peppermint essential oil. Good luck!

Hello, 2 questions: 1. Could I add some particles for an exfoliating effect? What exactly do you recommend? 2. Can you add one part peppermint essential oil and one part lemon? I would love the invigorating effect of mint if I could incorporate it in some way. Thank you!

Yes, I did. I didn't throw it out, I made it into a wash cream, and finally I added water and xanthan gum. That turned out fine, but I still want to make a translucent oleogel like the one in the picture. I didn't even end up with a translucent material. I just found a video online from you, watched it and will try it again. Too bad this video is not up here under emulsifier :) I would have saved a 120 ml jar full of cream :D :D Alternatively I would do it by machine, is that good too or does hand mixing only work?

Dear Hajnalka, it is easy to make an oleogel with the Alpha emulsifier, but it is only successful if the oil is added slowly and gradually to the emulsifying salt, stirring continuously and vigorously, just like making mayonnaise. This is the only way to obtain a gel-like gel. Do not discard the mixture that fails, use it as a bath oil. Have a nice day!

Dear Elemental! I'm writing here because I couldn't get to the Alpha emulsifier. I wanted to make an oleogel with Alfa emulsifier, I followed the instructions, but unfortunately I only got a dilute slurry. I did it in a 1:4 ratio as described. Then I added more oil, added more oil, but it didn't thicken. The picture shows a gel like clear gel for the oleogel. That's what I wanted. Unfortunately, it wasted the emulsifier and a lot of my oil. I don't understand why it didn't work if I did everything as described. Thank you for your reply!

One clarification...in parallel i.e. exfoliating scrub and then immediately or on the same day mask ? Or the exfoliant daily and the mask 1-2 times a week? I appreciate your answer

Hello. Yes, the mask is also beneficial in this case, but an exfoliating solution can be used in parallel.
