Vegan lip balm
Formula: 9353 Difficulty level: medium Shelf life: min 6 months

Phase Ingredients Total 6 gr
A Cocoa butter 2,85 gr
A Jojoba oil 2,85 gr
A Alkanet root powder 0,32 gr
B Candelilla wax 0,76 gr
C Aromatic Coconut extract 7 drops

1. In a heatproof glass, heat the ingredients of phase A for 15 minutes. Stir occasionally, then set aside for 5 minutes to decant.

2. Filter using a strainer and gauze folded into 4 layers.

3. In a heatproof glass add the filtered oil and candelilla wax, melt over a water bath.

4. Add phase C, stir vigorously and pour into container. Leave to harden overnight.

The result is a smooth, naturally aromatic, emollient and nourishing balm. Gives a slight tint to the lips but without the specific coverage given by a lipstick.

Hello! The balm should be strong enough, if you have completely melted the wax, thoroughly homogenized the composition and waited enough time for it to solidify. To get a harder balm, increase the beeswax dosage or use a wax with a higher hardening power.

I want to make a lip balm that doesn't melt very quickly and I used 50% cocoa butter 10% beeswax, coconut and macadamia oil but it's still not hard what would be the problem? Normally the balm with 50% cocoa butter and 10% beeswax should be hard. Thanks

Hello. In principle you can add titanium paste, 0.5-1 gr, in phase B, but we have not tested the formula for this.

Hello Anca. The candelilla wax provides the texture and hardness to the conditioner, which is necessary for the conditioner to be used in a stick container. The gloss base can possibly be included in the recipe instead of some of the jojoba oil.

Yes, Adelina, from that point of view it would be fine to use soy wax. What we can suggest is to use a higher amount than candelilla wax and decrease the amount of oil accordingly.
