Description
A natural colorant for cosmetics, soaps, candles, and hair. It imparts a ruby red color to oily preparations and shades of pink, grey, blue or purple, depending upon the amount used and the alkalinity of the formulation. To hair it brings mahogany reflections.

- incorporate in the form of an oily macerate in tinted oils, balms, body butters, sticks, creams, soaps and candles
- in formulations where the pH is alkaline, it develops a blue-gray color
FORMULATION GUIDE
- How to prepare an oily macerate
- Use 100 ml vegetable oil of your choice and mix it with 10 gr alkanet powder. Leave it to macerate up to 7 days, shaking occasionally. Filter it using a coffee filter or a dense sieve. Use this colored oil in your preparation. The process can be speeded up by heating the oil-powder mixture on a bain-marie at no more than 50°C for up to one hour.

For me it's a must in lavender soap. Unfortunately, lately, I can't seem to get that specific purple. I don't know if it's from the powder or I'm doing something wrong .

I used alkanet powder in the preparation of a cold process soap. The resulting colors are very, very beautiful.
A chameleonic coloring. In a basic environment it changes color from violet to gray. An excellent natural coloring alternative to CP soaps.
I had no more patience and I made a soap where I put the powder directly, anyway it came out a nice color.I also put it in oil for macerate I will use it later for soaps pt.că I saw some super soap colors with this macerate.
With Alkanet powder I color various soaps and lip balm nicely. In order to get the desired color, small samples must be made first, thus determining the dosage of powder. Recommendation.
Despite the red color, in cold soaps, the color changes to gray-blue. Alkana dye has antiseptic properties and the cosmetics in which it is present helps to relieve inflammation, soothes the skin and moisturizes. I didn't dare to use it for my hair.
A very good pigment but it's quite hard to homogenize, you need to mix it longer in the product, but the color is nice.

Very good as a natural colorant in CP soaps.In hot and very hot preparations(I think somewhere over 45-50 degrees) it turns purple/purple depending on the amount used, in conditioner it stays red.
