Description

Turmeric Essential Oil (Curcuma longa) for personal care presents itself as an anti-inflammatory active and skin brightener, and as a tonic massage ingredient for joints and muscles. Dominated by sesquiterpene turmerones, its properties differ from those of the culinary powder, as the steam distillation process captures only the volatile fraction of the plant. Its warm, earthy, slightly spicy aroma also makes it an aromatherapy product with a grounding effect.

The essential oil does not contain curcumin, as it is not a volatile substance and cannot be recovered through distillation. The turmerones in the oil have documented properties such as tyrosinase inhibition, skin anti-inflammatory action, and antioxidant effects, distinct from curcumin and complementary to it in other forms of use.

air Olfactory profile: Warm, earthy, woody-spicy, with notes of ginger and bitter orange. Persistent and deep, a middle note with an oriental character, distinct from culinary turmeric.

Ingredients: Turmeric Essential Oil (Curcuma Longa Rhizome Extract)
100% pure and natural, E.O.B.B.D. botanically and biochemically defined, full spectrum, unfractionated, undiluted
Obtained by steam distillation from the rhizomes of Curcuma longa

Questions and Answers (FAQ)

Q: Does Turmeric essential oil stain the skin or clothes?
A: Unlike turmeric powder, the essential oil is much lighter in color and does not significantly stain the skin. At high concentrations and on very fair skin, it may leave a slight, temporary yellowish tint that washes off easily. Clothes can be stained if the oil comes into direct contact with them before being fully absorbed into the skin.

Q: What is turmerone and how does it differ from curcumin?
A: They are completely different compounds from the same plant. Curcumin is a deep-yellow polyphenol, soluble in fats, and responsible for the color of turmeric, it is not volatile and does not transfer into the essential oil through distillation. Turmerone is a volatile sesquiterpene ketone present in the essential oil, with documented tyrosinase-inhibiting (skin-brightening) and topical anti-inflammatory activities. They are distinct ingredients with different mechanisms.

Q: What is the difference compared to Ginger essential oil?
A: Although both originate from rhizomes and are spicy and tonic, they have distinct profiles. Ginger is more rubefacient, faster-acting, and possesses a more pungent aroma. Turmeric acts more slowly and deeply, with its turmerones offering a more complex anti-inflammatory profile and a specific skin-brightening effect. The aroma of Turmeric is woodier and earthier, and less fiery. In a joint massage blend, they combine excellently, as each addresses a different mechanism.
