1. Have all utensils and equipment ready on the workbench, within easy reach. Make the necessary ingredient measurements from the recipe.
2. Heat the vegetable oils and butter on a bain-marie to approx. 50-60°C, stir occasionally with a spatula.
In a heat-resistant vessel (Berzelius glass) prepare the soda solution by adding the hydroxide a little at a time to the water. Stir until the solution becomes transparent. Allow to cool to a temperature of about 40°C.
3. Over the heated oils add the turmeric powder, stir until dispersed, then slowly pour in the sodium hydroxide solution.
4. Place the blender in the bowl and start blending until the emulsion forms. The essential oils are added at the end by blending.
5. Transfer the composition to the chosen mould. Sprinkle the surface of the soap with alcohol to prevent the formation of sodium carbonate.
Leave the soap to stand for 2 days in a cool place, during which time it will harden. Remove from the mould.
6. Place the soap to cure in a well-ventilated area on shelves or in boxes covered with paper towels (but not closed to allow air circulation). Maturation takes a minimum of 4 weeks from the date of production, during which time the soap is not used as it is still reactive.
