Hello Laura, Yes, the proposed replacement can be carried out. We recommend 1% BS preservative, adjusting the water percentage. Good luck!

Hi Laura, Without testing we are unable to recommend exact quantities, but in theory you can make the suggested substitutions. Add guar gum gradually until you get the desired texture. You can also increase the percentage of AHA by measuring the pH, taking care that it does not fall below 3.5. Have a sunny day!

Hello, can I also use guar gum as a gelling agent and how much can I increase the concentration to aha? I would make a small amount to test first how the skin takes it

Hello Ileana, You can try adding a chelating agent for preserving the color alive. In our experiences it can only prolong the vivid color of the product in the short term. Hibiscus powder over time loses color due to the low pH of the gel. Good luck!

Hello, The use of chelators is a topic still in the works for me, and I'm curious if adding a chelator to this gel would be beneficial for color preservation. I know so far that it is not added in w/o because of the salt used as a stabilizer. Can it be added in formulas that contain acids (AHA, BHA, etc) or does it interact with them in an undesirable way? Thank you very much. Ileana

Hello Kinga, Yes, you can replace AHA fruit acid with glycolic acid. Take into account the very low pH of glycolic acid (pH 0.2-0.7) compared to the pH of AHA fruit acid (pH 4-5). Without testing we cannot give you an exact amount. We recommend that you perform a test on a small amount of 10 ml of the preparation and adjust if necessary to get a final pH between 3.5-5.5. Good luck

Hello. I would like to prepare this gel, but now I notice that I don't have AHA fruit acids anymore. But I have glycolic acid, which from what I have read, is also an AHA acid. Could I make the replacement and if so in what percentage?

Hello! In principle yes, you can adapt the recipe in this way, possibly do a test first with a smaller amount of prepared gel. Good luck!

Hello. I have used an intensive peeling product for a long time that had 30% AHA and 2% BHA. Do you think I could adapt the recipe of this rejuvenating gel by adding BHA in the concentration mentioned and increasing the amount of AHA to 30%? Thank you.

Hello Maria. It is a normal phenomenon, the color given by the hibiscus loses its intensity over time, it also becomes slightly yellowish, but this does not diminish the effectiveness of the gel.
