Geranium & Allantoin Soap
Formula: 718 Difficulty level: beginner Shelf life: min 12 months

Phase Ingredients Total 90 gr
A M&P soap base White 84 gr
A Madder root powder 2,5 gr
B Allantoin 1 gr
B Geranium Bourbon essential oil 20 drops
B Petitgrain essential oil 20 drops

1. Dice the soap base and melt it in a water bath with the rest of the ingredients from phase A, mix well.

2. Add the ingredients of phase B and mix.

3. Pour the mixture into the prepared mould and leave to harden on a flat surface. After approx. 4 hours remove the soap from the mould and leave to dry until the next day. The prepared soap can then be used.

If the environment in which the soap is stored has higher humidity, dew and a gelatinous layer may appear on the surface of the soap. This is normal for natural melt & pour soaps. To avoid this phenomenon, it is advisable to wrap the soap in food wrap or store it in a sealable container.

Hello Maria. If you don't use a higher amount of essential oil than is generally indicated for melt&pour soaps then it's probably not the oils separating on the surface of the soaps but that dew is forming due to the ambient humidity. I also explained this phenomenon in the description of soap recipes.

Hello! Can you please tell me why the essential oils separate on the surface of my soaps? Am I putting too much or what could be the cause?

Andra, Hello, You can use another powder chosen according to your preferences or properties in place of the rowan: urucum, chlorophyll, aloe vera powder, coconut powder. In this formula, roiba is used for soap coloring.

Gabriela, Hello, By definition soap is alkaline and its pH can generally vary between 7.5-10. In the near future we will be able to provide you with information about the pH of the soap bases available in our offer, and we will take measurements for the current batches. In our experience it is not possible to acidify M&P soap with lactic acid. Those who opt for soap hygiene should apply a moisturizing cream or penetrating oil to the skin.

Anca, Hello, In soaps and in general in products that wash off the skin after application (shampoo, shower gel) you can use a smaller amount of fragrances or mild essential oils, citrus for example. In creams, body butters and other compositions that remain on the skin, it is advisable to avoid the use of essential oils and fragrances, which, even if natural, contain essential oil fractions and aromatic molecules.

Hello. I am pregnant in my first trimester and I read on your website that I should avoid essential oils. In your soap and body butter formulas can these oils be replaced with the natural fragrances you stock?

kiki, M&P soaps harden quickly, not like the CP method. What do you mean it came out hard? In the soap bases available with us, even if you put little additions it is fine, basically the bases can be used as is. If you put too much or too many add-ins, then it can be a problem, because they become too soft.

Thank you very much for your answer, of course I will write you how it came out; because you asked about the composition of the soap I can say that it is made, I mean the oily part of animal fat and coconut oil solified, is a soap made hot about 3 years ago and so my parents told me...he has the color of soap home, as I said that in grandma's time ... so I respect what you wrote above?

kiki, In our experience sometimes it can be done, it depends on the composition of the soap. You have to scrape the soap, count 30% water in which you melt it (for example 100 gr of soap is added in about 40 gr of water) on the water bath, after melting remove from heat, add the oils and essences, not more than 10-15 gr in total, mix the composition well and pour it into the mold. Leave the soap in the mold for up to 48 hours and after removing it from the mold let it dry for a few more days. If I have helped you and it turned out well, maybe post a comment; other readers are probably interested in this topic.

Good evening, I want to ask if I can melt, as in the defpat recipe, a homemade soap but made from the hot recipe (from grandmother...) and add oil of catina, olive oil, vitamin E, bay laurel oil (drops) and maybe other drops of essential oils, thank you in advance

madalina, Hello, Soap base cannot be replaced with a butter or oil. From oils you can only make soap by saponification. You can possibly make a body butter from coconut oil, cocoa butter and essential oils, see the body butter recipes under the body butter recipes category.
