Description

Myristyl Myristate – Teutonic Texture and Velvet Sensation

Myristyl Myristate is a natural ester obtained through sustainable biotechnological processes, which redefines the sensoriality of care products. Unlike hard waxes, it melts at skin temperature, offering emulsions a rich and creamy consistency without leaving a greasy or occlusive feel. It is the preferred ingredient to transform a simple emulsion into a truly good cream, leaving behind a powdery finish and velvety skin.

Ingredients (INCI): Myristyl Myristate.

Characteristics

  • Appearance: White pellets / flakes.
  • Melting point: Approximately 40°C.
  • Solubility: Soluble in oils and esters when heated.

Main Properties

  • Texture and Consistency Agent: Adds body and structure to emulsions, making them denser and more stable.
  • Good Emollient: Provides an immediate sensation of soft and cared-for skin, improving the sensory profile of any cream.
  • Velvety Finish: Reduces the watery sensation and inconsistent appearance of emulsions, offering opacity and an improved look.
  • Protection and Hydration: Forms a fine protective barrier that helps retain moisture in the epidermis.
  • Spreading Facilitator: Improves the product's glide on the skin (spreadability), ensuring easy and uniform application.

  • Stability: It is stable across a wide pH range and is compatible with most common ingredients used in cosmetics.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can it replace beeswax?
It does not completely replace it in terms of structure (beeswax has a higher melting point), but it can be used in combination to make balms creamier and more pleasant to apply.

Does it change the color or scent of the product?
No, it is a very pure ingredient, colorless and odorless in the final formula, preserving the integrity of your fragrance and color.

Safety in Use

Profile: Safe, biodegradable ingredient that is well-tolerated by the skin.
Precautions: Intended exclusively for cosmetic use. Keep out of reach of children. Do not ingest.
Storage: Store in the original packaging in a dry and cool place (below 30°C). The pellets may clump slightly in heat, but this does not affect the quality of the product.

I use this product with most of my more consistent creams. The difference from cetyl or cetearyl is that it gives lighter and less whitish textures on application. It can be combined with any emulsifier ,I have for example replaced some of the olliva or substituted some of the vegetable butters and got great results. I recommend!
