Magnesium Stearate – Sensory plant-derived texturizer
Magnesium stearate is one of the most widely used functional powders in the cosmetic industry due to its versatility. It confers a professional texture, a creamy feel, good adhesion, finish, and wear resistance to cosmetic and makeup preparations.
It is the magnesium salt of stearic acid, obtained through the neutralization of fatty acids (derived from plant, not animal, sources in the case of this grade) with magnesium salts.
Its fine lamellar structure provides exceptional slip and skin adhesion, making it a standard ingredient in powder foundations, loose and pressed powders, as well as solid sticks and balms, where it prevents particle clumping and improves compaction.

Formulation Guide
- Indicative dosage: up to 30% in loose powders and aerosols, up to 10% in compacted powders, emulsions, balms, stick products
- In powder formulas: dry-blend using a mortar or powder mixer together with the remaining mineral fillers (pigments, sericite, kaolin) until homogeneously dispersed.
- In emulsions, balms, and sticks: add to the heated oil phase under stirring until fully melted/dispersed.
- In pressed powders, it aids compaction—testing the stearate/binder ratio is recommended to avoid either overly friable pressing (insufficient dosage) or difficult product payoff (excessive dosage).
- Combines well with mica and silica for a matte-velvety finish without interfering with pigment adhesion.

- Precautions: External cosmetic use. Being a fine powder, avoiding dust inhalation during raw material handling is recommended.
