Lipgloss Base – Shine Agent for Lip Balm, Lipstick, and Lipgloss
Lipgloss Base is a dense-textured oily product of 100% plant origin, used as a base or functional additive in lip makeup and lip care products, serving as a natural alternative to synthetic petroleum-derived polymers (such as polybutenes or mineral oils) and lanolin. It imparts high gloss and a wet-look finish on the skin, is easy to use, and offers emollient and moisture-retaining properties.
Thanks to its high refractive index and structural viscosity, it provides finished products with an intense shine effect, prolonged adhesion on the skin, and optimal pigment-suspending properties, without creating a pronounced sticky feel.
Ingredients: Hydrogenated Castor Oil Dimer Dilinoleate.
Technical Characteristics
- Origin: Botanical, derived from plant fatty acids.
- Appearance: Viscous, transparent, slightly yellowish oil, neutral taste and odor.
- Solubility: Miscible in vegetable oils, melted butters, cosmetic esters, and hydrocarbons. Insoluble in water.
- Cosmetic function: Lipgloss base (shine agent), high-viscosity emollient, pigment dispersant, adhesion agent, plant-based lanolin substitute.
- Recommended dosage: Can be used as the primary base (60% - 90%) in fluid lip gloss formulas or at 5% - 20% as a shine and texture additive in lipsticks and balms.

Formulation Guide
- Procedure: At room temperature, the Lipgloss Base is thick and more difficult to pour or mix directly. Pre-heating the base to a temperature between 50°C and 60°C is recommended. Heating temporarily lowers viscosity, fluidizing the base and allowing easy incorporation of auxiliary plant oils and smooth blending of pigments without entraining air.
- Incorporating pigments: For optimal dispersion, premixing matte and pearlescent pigments into a small amount of liquid carrier oil from the recipe is recommended; the resulting paste is then added to the heated gloss base.

Love it! Thick and nice, can be diluted with oil without adding a wax. Stays on for long. But there need to be a size to purchase between 90 and 900grams… I suggest 250.

I did a red gloss but the color doesn't last on the lips. The base is good, thick. I like it. The lipstick is probably stronger than the pigmented gloss.
