Sodium Surfactin (Surfactin Sodium Salt)

Sodium Surfactin is the sodium salt form of surfactin, a high-performance biosurfactant typically produced via microbial fermentation (commonly by Bacillus species). In cosmetic formulations, it is valued for its exceptional surface-activity at low use levels, helping to reduce surface tension, boost cleansing efficiency, and improve wetting and foam quality while supporting mildness compared with some conventional surfactants. It can also function as a solubilizing and dispersing aid, contributing to clearer systems and improved stability of fragrance or oily components in rinse-off and leave-on formats. Well-suited to “gentle cleansing,” microbiome-friendly, and natural/biotech positioning, Sodium Surfactin is used in facial and body cleansers, shampoos, micellar waters, makeup removers, and toners, typically at low concentrations and formulated within an appropriate pH and surfactant system to ensure optimal tolerance and performance.
