Polysorbate 20 is a non-ionic surfactant and solubilizer widely used in cosmetic and personal care formulations to help disperse oils and fragrance materials into water-based systems. Valued for its mildness and versatility, it enables clear or lightly opalescent solutions by improving the solubility of essential oils, perfumes, and certain lipophilic actives, supporting uniformity and preventing separation. It can also function as a co-emulsifier in emulsions, helping stabilize oil droplets and refine texture. Polysorbate 20 is commonly found in facial mists, toners, micellar waters, cleansers, shampoos, bath and shower products, and aromatherapy-inspired sprays where stable fragrance delivery and consistent performance are desired.
