Origanum Vulgare Oil (Oregano Oil)

Origanum Vulgare Oil is a highly aromatic essential oil, typically obtained by steam distillation of the aerial parts of Origanum vulgare (oregano), characterized by a warm, herbaceous-spicy profile and a composition often rich in phenolic constituents such as carvacrol and thymol. In cosmetic formulations, it is used at very low concentrations as a perfuming ingredient and within botanical blends that support a purified, refreshed skin feel, particularly in cleansing and deodorizing concepts. It can also provide antioxidant support to aromatic systems, but its potency means it may be irritating for sensitive skin if overused. Origanum Vulgare Oil is therefore most commonly found in rinse-off products (cleansers, soaps, scalp washes) and targeted blends, and is typically formulated in line with applicable IFRA guidance due to sensitization/irritation potential in leave-on applications.
