Linalool (linalool)

Linalool is a naturally occurring terpene alcohol found in many essential oils, including lavender, coriander, and basil. In cosmetic formulations, it is primarily used as a fragrance component to impart a fresh, floral, and mildly sweet aroma. While it adds sensorial appeal and enhances the overall olfactory profile of a product, linalool can oxidize over time, and in its oxidized form may cause sensitivity in individuals prone to fragrance allergies. For this reason, regulatory authorities require it to be listed separately on ingredient labels when present above certain concentrations.
