Cymbopogon Flexuosus Oil (Lemongrass Essential Oil)
An aromatic essential oil obtained from the leaves of Cymbopogon flexuosus (lemongrass), primarily valued in cosmetics for its fresh, citrus-herbal scent and its deodorizing and purifying sensory profile. It is commonly used as a fragrance component in body washes, soaps, shampoos, deodorant-type products, and aromatherapy-inspired skincare, and may also contribute ancillary antimicrobial effects in a formula (though it is not a preservative substitute). Because it naturally contains fragrance allergens (often including citral, geraniol, and limonene, depending on the chemotype and batch), it can increase the risk of irritation or sensitization in sensitive or reactive skin, especially in leave-on products or at higher use levels. For this reason, it is typically dosed conservatively, formulated with skin-comforting components, and its allergen constituents may need to be declared on the label in accordance with applicable cosmetic regulations; individual tolerance should be considered, particularly for very sensitive skin.
