Questions and Answers (FAQ)
Q: Why does it smell so different from what I would expect from a "floral oil"?
A: Immortelle is floral in a botanical sense, not an olfactory one. Its aroma is dominated by earthy and hay-like components, nothing like the floral freshness of lavender or the sweetness of geranium. Many are surprised upon first opening the bottle. It is an aroma that requires familiarity, but it becomes captivating on the skin, where it opens up completely to reveal nuances of tea, sweet resin, and organic warmth. In blends, citruses or Lavender temper it and make it more accessible.
Q: Are all products named "Helichrysum" or "Immortelle" equivalent?
A: No. There are several species of Helichrysum, but only Helichrysum italicum contains the active profile, neryl acetate, gamma-curcumene, and italidiones, which provides the properties for which it is renowned. Other varieties may be marketed under the same name, but with significantly lower efficacy.
Q: How many drops are needed, why is the bottle so small?
A: Immortelle is rare and expensive due to the nature of its production, requiring hundreds of kilograms of flowers to yield 1 kilogram of oil. However, it is also extremely concentrated: a few drops are enough to activate a 30 ml serum or a 50 g ointment.
