Butter-Perlen
Description
Butter-Perlen – Sensorial Emollient, Creaminess
Butter-Perlen is a 100% plant-derived emollient that brings distinct sensory properties to cosmetic formulas. It offers a melting sensation, softness, creaminess, and enhanced spreadability on the skin. Its melting point is optimized to a value close to body temperature, a property that enables rapid transformation upon direct contact with the skin, improving spreading properties and leaving a velvety, non-greasy finish.
This ingredient functions as a lipophilic rheology modifier, consistency agent, and texturizer in emulsions and anhydrous products.
Ingredients (INCI): C10-18 Triglycerides.
Technical Characteristics
- Appearance: Off-white solid pearls with a neutral odor.
- Solubility: Soluble in vegetable oils, melted butters, and cosmetic esters upon heating.
- Cosmetic function: Texturizing agent, sensory modifier, fast-melting emollient, consistency agent for anhydrous products and emulsions.
Main Properties
- Melting Profile: Provides a melting sensation, easy spreading of creams upon application, and optimal absorption.
- Superior Sensory Profile: Reduces the heavy, greasy character of dense vegetable butters and oils, giving creams a lighter texture. Delivers a distinct feel and fineness.
- Stick Structure: Contributes to stabilizing the shape of solid preparations, preventing rigid crystallization and ensuring uniform film release upon application.
- Comfort Emollient: Replenishes the lipid components of the skin, protecting the hydrolipidic barrier; improves skin comfort.
Applications
- Day and night facial creams intended for dry, mature, or dehydrated skin.
- Lip balms, classic lipsticks, and solid glosses as a texture and creaminess agent.
- Body butters, sun care creams, massage balms, and anhydrous products with a pleasant melt-on-skin feel.
- Creamy makeup products (foundations, blushes, concealers).
- Formulations for the eye contour area, due to the smooth glide imparted during mechanical application.
Formulation Guide
- Procedure: In the case of emulsions (O/W or W/O creams), add to the oil phase. In anhydrous products, melt together with the oils/butters in the recipe.
- Recommended usage dosage: 2 - 10% in emulsions and creams; up to 30% in anhydrous mixtures (balms, sticks).
Safety in Use and Storage
Safety Profile: Safe raw material, non-irritating, with good skin tolerance.
Precautions: For external cosmetic use only.
Storage: In a dry and cool place, protected from direct sunlight.
