Rubia Tinctorum Root Powder (Madder Root Powder)

Rubia Tinctorum Root Powder, commonly known as madder root powder, is a plant-derived botanical colorant traditionally used to impart warm red to reddish-brown tones. Its natural pigment profile (anthraquinone-type color compounds) can provide earthy, buildable coloration and is therefore mainly used in herbal hair dyes, botanical color blends, soaps, and naturally tinted cosmetic preparations. In addition to color contribution, it may offer a mild skin-/hair-conditioning, antioxidant-supportive profile typical of polyphenol-rich botanicals, depending on the grade and processing. As with most plant colorants, shade outcome can vary with batch, pH, application time, and the substrate (hair/skin), and it may stain; patch testing is recommended, especially for sensitive or reactive skin/scalps.
