Rosmarinus Officinalis Leaf Oil (Rosemary leaf essential oil)
An aromatic essential oil obtained from the leaves of Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary), used in cosmetics mainly for fragrance and for its antioxidant-supportive and skin-/scalp-conditioning properties. It contributes a fresh, herbaceous scent and contains naturally occurring terpenes and phenolic constituents (commonly associated with helping limit oxidative degradation of formulas and supporting a “revitalizing” sensorial effect). It is frequently found in hair and scalp products (shampoos, tonics, treatments) as well as in body care, massage blends, soaps, and deodorizing formulations. In leave-on skincare it is typically used at low levels due to its potency. As with most essential oils, it contains fragrance allergens and can be irritating or sensitizing for some users, especially on sensitive skin, so responsible dosing, compliance with allergen labeling rules, and patch testing for reactive individuals are recommended.
