Acacia Senegal Gum (Gum Arabic)

Acacia Senegal Gum is a natural polysaccharide exudate obtained from Acacia senegal and used in cosmetic formulations as a film former, binder, and stabilizer. It helps improve texture and cohesion in powders and pressed products, enhances adhesion on skin, and can provide a smooth, flexible film that supports wear and a refined finish. In water-based systems, it can contribute light viscosity and suspension support, and is also used to stabilize emulsions or encapsulate and protect sensitive actives in certain delivery formats. Acacia Senegal Gum is commonly found in mascaras, eyeliners, foundations, face powders, sheet mask essences, styling products, and “natural” setting or lift concepts where improved hold and film integrity are desired. Use level and performance depend on grade, molecular profile, and hydration/processing conditions, and are typically optimized alongside other gums or polymers to achieve the targeted viscosity, adhesion, and sensorial feel.
